Ajwain leaves also called as carram leaves can be used for a variety of dishes like chutneys and raitas and also this yummy pakodas. Ajwain is good for health and is known to have digestive properties. People who suffer from stomach ailments or stomach upset pain should take 1 pinch of ajwain seeds and salt.  Boil one tspn of ajwain seeds in a glass of water and drinking will also keep ailments at bay.

     We have a small ajwain plant which is blooming these days thanks to the rains. So mom suggested to make we make ajwain pakodas. So i made these pakodas and also aloo bonda the recipe for which you will find here. This is a excellent pakodas with your evening cuppa chai!!!

For the Ajwain pakodas:-

  • 8-9 ajwain leaves (preferably small sized leaves)
  • 7-8 tspn of besan (gram flour)
  • 1-2 tspn of corn flour or rice flour( to give that crisp texture)
  • 1 tspn of ajwain seeds
  • 2 tspn of cumin powder
  • 1 tspn of baking soda
  • 1 tspn of amchoor powder
  • Water to make the batter
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
Procedure to make:-
  • Firstly mix all the dry ingredients and mix well with hands.
  • Now add water to make a batter which should be thick enough to coat the leaves.
  • Wash the leaves and pat dry them.
  • Heat oil and coat the leaves with thick batter and deep fry till golden brown.
Serve hot with chutney of your choice.
