DABELI

Dabeli is another street food popular of Gujarat.made using Pav. Dabeli literally means pressed in Gujarati language.Stuffed with mixture of spiced boiled potatoes , Pomegranate , roasted peanuts it is served with tamarind chutney and Sev.

Preparation time:- 40-50 mins
Cooking time:- 30 mins
Makes:- 8-10 Dabelis

Ingredients Required:-

  • 8-10 Pavs
  • 2 medium sized potatoes boiled,peeled and mashed
  • 1 medium sized onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup of Peanuts roasted and crushed
  • 1 cup of Pomegranate
  • 1 cup of Sev
  • 1 bowl of tamarind chutney
  • 1 bowl of spicy chilly-garlic chutney (optional)
  • 2 tspn of Cumin powder
  • 2 tspn of Chaat masala
  • 1 tspn of Red chilly powder or more as per taste
  • 10 grams of butter
  • 2-3 tspn of refined oil
  • Salt to taste

Procedure to make the Potato filling:-
  • Heat oil in a saucepan and when its heated add half amout roasted-crushed peanuts along with half amount of finely chopped onions.
  • Saute well till onions are brown.
  • Now  add the boiled and mashed and mix well.
  • Add Cumin powder,Chaat masala and Red chilly powder and salt as per taste and mix well.
To assemble the dish:-
  • Cut the Pav in center and smear the chilly -garlic chutney.
  • Now stuff the potato filing and sprinkle Pomegranate and crushed-roasted peanuts on the top.
  • Roast on a girdle/Tava using a little butter.
  • Remove from Tava and dip one side of Pav in tamarind chutney and also in Sev.
  • Serve immediately.
