Soya and paneer tikkis

Soya is a rich source of protiens for vegetarians and paneer is a rich source of calcium. Soya has a few bland taste and a chewy texture so kids don't like eating it in form of curries So i made this yummy pakodas combining these two healthy ingredients.This would make a healthy and nutritious snack for kids in evening.

Preparation time:- 30 mins
Cooking time:-30 mins 

Ingredients Required :-

  • 1 cup of soya nuggets
  • 50 grams of paneer (grated)
  • 1 medium sized potato ( boiled,peeled and mashed)
  •  Half bunch of coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 2-3 tspn of finely chopped mint leaves
  • 2 tspn grated ginger
  • 2 tspn of Cumin powder( Jeera)
  • 2 tspn of chilly powder
  • 2 tspn of chaat masala powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil as required for shallow frying the tikkis
Procedure to make :-
  • In a saucepan boil 500 ml of water and to this add the soya nuggets and a pinch of salt and boil for 5-10 mins.
  • Turn off the heat,drain the water and let the soya nuggets cool.
  • After soya nuggets cools place the nuggets in a muslin cloth and squeeze the excess water.
  • In a blender put the squeezed nuggets along with grated ginger,chopped coriander and mint leaves and roughly mince it.
  • Now in a mixing bowl add this minced mixture,mashed potatoes, grated paneer along with cumin powder,chilly powder,chaat masala powder and salt and mix well.
  • Now heat 3-4 tspn of oil in pan and the above mixture into tikkis and shallow fry till golden brown on both sides.
Suggested serving:- Serve hot with cream cheese spread or even tomato ketchup.

  1. Since i made this recipe exclusively for kids i limited the amount of chilly added. You can add green chillies as well.
  2. Use this tikki as a filling for sandwiches or burgers or frankies also.
