Mavina hanu sasme

This is a typically rustic recipe from my native place Sirsi and is eaten with delight. Recently learnt to make this from my mom and thought of sharing it with my blogger friends. And there is was contest online which called for recipe using mangoes and chillies and this recipe suited the best for it.

Preparation time :- 10-20 mins
Cooking time :- 10 mins
Serves:- 4-5 ppl

Ingredients required :-
  • 2-3 ripe mangoes ( preferably use the mangoes which are used in made in making pickles)
  • 1 cup of curds 
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 1 tspn of mustard seeds
  • a pinch of sugar
  • Salt to taste
For tempering :-
  • 2-4 tspn of coconut oil only
  • 1-2 broken red chillies
  • 1 tspn of mustard seeds
  • 5-6 curry leaves
Procedure to make:-
  • Wash and peel the mangoes and squeeze the pulp in into a vessel.Seed can be retained ( This is the best part of the dish,sucking the seed)
  • Now blend together grated coconut,green chillies and mustard seeds.
  • Add this blended mixture to the squeezed mango pulp. Mix well.
  • Add curd,salt and a pinch of sugar.
  • Now in a tempering pan heat oil and add to it broken red chillies,mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  • Add this temper to the curd-mango mixture.
Suggested serving:- Serve with plain hot rice.
